The Darling Dog Portrait Co.

Star, one of my first two Darling Dog Portrait subjectsThe Darling Dog Portrait Co. began purely by accident after two portraits were made as a housewarming gift for two close friends very well received. Days leading up to the gifting, I decided to go out of my comfort zone to paint something that fit their personal style, their home’s decor, and incorporate their pet’s personalities all in a 10″ by 10″ space. I envisioned an illustration approach that would capture the essence of their pet without embracing strict realism. The product was the hybrid illustration/realism style that has blossomed into the Darling Dog Portrait Co. (both shown on this page. Star is top left and Sullivan is bottom right.) Word of mouth orders began pouring in quickly, and with each satisfied customer, my motivation and drive to create meaningful and stylistically harmonious portraits is renewed. To date, I have created over 100 custom portraits.

Sully, one of my first two Darling Dog Portrait is the online face of my cottage industry. Here you can not only view samples of completed works, but contact me directly to discuss a portrait of your special furry (or feathery) friend. Each portrait captures your pet’s features and personality; you won’t be receiving a generic portrait of your breed.

Once you decide that your home just won’t be complete without a Darling Dog Portrait, we will work together to create a unique artistic solution. Once a canvas size is chosen and you complete a short questionnaire to familiarize me with your general decor, you will need to submit a photo of your pet. Alternatively, I can photograph your pet for an additional fee (varies based on location). I will submit an initial proof to you, and after approval, I will complete the final product. Prices vary based on canvas size and lead time varies based on work load. If a portrait is needed on a time-sensitive basis, rush jobs and shipping are available for an additional fee.

In the event you do not know what photo your portrait recipient would like to use or you are in a time-crunch.

I hope you like what you have seen, and I am anxious to begin work on your pet’s portrait. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me.
